Spanish Online offers courses through Internet-based Distance Learning for High Schools and Home Schooled Students

Highlights of Spanish Online Courses

  • Spanish Online is distance learning made easy.
  • Spanish Online offers Spanish I - IV for schools who cannot hire a foreign language teacher.
  • On-site coordinator does not have to know Spanish.
  • Courses are completely online, with streamed video and audio, and computer exercises.
  • All courses are year-long or semester/ block schedule, 5-days-a-week.
  • Weekly telephone sessions with our instructors and tutors.
  • Quizzes and tests are taken online.
  • Local class sizes range from one to 25 students.
  • Students receive credit from their local high school.

GOALS of the Oklahoma State University Spanish Online Program

COMMUNICATION: Students present information on different topics using many formats. They engage in conversations about topics such as Food, Clothing, Places in Town, and Leisure Activities. They learn to express likes and dislikes and to interpret written and spoken language.

CULTURES: Students will gain an understanding of different Spanish cultural practices and products for example: Courtesies, Hispanic School Systems, Meal times, Literature, and Art.

CONNECTIONS: Students learn about different aspects of the Hispanic culture which connect to other disciplines such as geography, history, literature, art, and music.

COMPARISONS: Students learn about language in general and about the concept of culture by comparing the Hispanic culture and the Spanish language to their own.

COMMUNITIES: Students use Spanish beyond the school setting by accessing websites, radio stations, and television broadcasts in Spanish. As well, they will look for the use of the Spanish language and the presence of the Hispanic culture in theirs and surrounding communities.
